Comfort & efficiency
An energy-renovation roadmap for your Greek home
Coordinate comfort, building improvements and equipment upgrades in a staged plan, with clear assumptions and current checks on any funding opportunity.

Energy improvements are easier to coordinate when they are planned as a sequence rather than bought as unrelated products. Your immediate priority may be a cold bedroom or high summer discomfort, but the solution should also consider work you expect to undertake later.
Establish a baseline
Collect available energy bills, equipment details, previous assessments and a record of comfort problems. Note occupancy and seasonal use so the information has context. Ask a qualified professional what additional assessment is appropriate. A comparison without a baseline can make almost any projected saving look convincing.
Coordinate building and systems
Discuss the relationship between insulation, windows, ventilation, shading and heating or cooling equipment. If several measures are planned, ask what should happen first and what must be designed together. The European Commission’s renovation guidance provides broader context; your property still needs its own technical assessment.
Stage work without creating rework
Consider access, scaffolding, internal finishes and service routes. For example, a future equipment change may require a route that is easier to prepare during other works. Record each phase, the decisions it depends on and the expected disruption. Separate essential repair from optional efficiency upgrades so neither disappears in a combined quotation.
Check funding independently
Do not assume a past programme is open or that your property qualifies. Verify current official programme terms, application dates, eligible work and required documentation before relying on support. Ask for any financial model to state tariffs, usage and maintenance assumptions. This guide does not promise grants, a payback period or a particular reduction in bills.
Your practical checklist
- Collect bills and comfort observations.
- Commission an appropriate property assessment.
- Sequence work to avoid undoing new finishes.
- Verify current funding terms at the official source.
